TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a beautiful day to plant daffodils in the park.

And that is exactly what several dozen folks did Saturday morning at the Music Bend Nature Trail at Tupelo’s Veterans Park.

It was the fifth year that they planted bulbs at various parks across the city.

They planted half of the 20,000 daffodil bulbs the city obtained in a grant from the Quality of Life Committee.

Sherry Cochran is with Keep Tupelo Beautiful.

“We’ve got families with children. It’s a really really good legacy project because when the kids get older, they’ll be able to say helped with that,” Cochran said.

Cochran says besides planting daffodils on the nature trail, the city has donated bulbs to schools and churches for planting.

She says it is all part of the effort to beautify the entire city.
