Video: Union County Will Soon Be Able To Receive 911 Text Messages

UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — New technology is on its way to Union County to help improve emergency response.

A new E-911 Emergency Telephone System was purchased by Union County to update their nine-year old system.

The system will be able to receive text and voice messages.

911 Coordinator says the new technology will even allow emergency responders to find your location.

“You might be hunting, you might be fishing, you might be out on the road or not know for sure the location of where you are and the we would be able to with new technology to locate you,” says Mildred Churchill.

The system is expected to be installed by this summer.
