Video: Winston Co. Head Start Celebrates 50 Years of Service

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Winston County residents are marking a major milestone.

Students, parents and teachers with the Winston County Head Start Complex are celebrating 50 years of service.

Since it’s an extra special anniversary, organizers decided to hold a parade Friday, instead of having the usual program at the center.

Both students and staffers sat on floats and trucks, waving to residents downtown.

Organizers say they were thrilled to go all out.

“It means everything, and we’re celebrating 50 years of success, and especially in Winston County,” said Irene Smith, Winston County Head Start. “Our slogan is we are the best in the business, and we are that because we have this great city, and community behind us.”

October is also National Head Start Awareness Month.
