Video:$10,000 Worth Of Items Stolen

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tupelo man is behind bars tonight, after breaking into a Lee County Home yesterday evening, October 19.

Lee County investigators arrested 39 year old Zachary Dickey.

He’s charged with Burglary of Dwelling.

Sheriff Jim Johnson says $10,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the home.

The sheriff says the homeowner was at work when the Burglary was taking place.

However, when the homeowner came home, he saw Dickey inside stealing items.

Johnson says the homeowner tried to detain burglar, but he got away.

Later in the day, the sheriff says they received a tip from a neighbor that led them to Dickey’s arrest.

“All of this property was found at the suspects home either in his vehicle, or stashed away. With the amount of property that we have, there had to be multiple trips that were taken to this house in order for him to obtain, the vehicle that he had would not hold all of this, so there were several trips there. The homeowners were gone all day long to their job, the home was intact when they left early that morning but yesterday afternoon it when they discovered it so we believe there were multiple trips taken,” says Sheriff Jim Johnson.

All of the stolen items have been recovered and Johnson says they will be given back to the homeowner.

Dickey’s bond is set at $50,000.
