Lawmakers Start Session in Jackson, Set Goals

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi Lawmakers have officially begun their four month session, and they will spend the first few days getting organized.

Lawmakers and their family’s were at the capital for the official swearing in and to celebrate the new year, one they hope to use for progress.

One thing Lt. Governor Tate Reeves hopes to accomplish is giving back to the taxpayers.
“I’m for giving the taxpayers a pay raise. We proposed it last year and had a large bipartisan majority in the mississippi senate pas, a pay raise for the taxpayers, an elimination of the 3 and 4 percent individual income tax bracket, and also giving our job creators a break to encourage them to invest more capital into our state and create more jobs in our state”

Republican’s have a supermajority, but Democrats say they are not letting that slow them down.
