2018 MSU Black Alumni Weekend Kick Off

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi State University is covered with students this weekend, both past and present.

The second annual Black Alumni Weekend kicked off Friday night where the university welcomed former students back to campus.

The weekend is full of events including an athletic luncheon; with appearance from university president Mark Keenum, Athletic Director John Cohen, and head football coach Joe Moorhead.

The weekend also held several information seminars.

MSU Black Alumni Board member Dr. Lenora Hogan says it’s a way for the alumni to catch up, while also giving back to the current students.

“I think it’s huge as far as Mississippi State university goes. Just to show how well we’ve done after graduation and it’s also a way to give back because there is a scholarship involved in the festivities that results from registration,” said Hogan.

The weekend continues with a Gala and award ceremony Friday Night, highlighting the accomplishments and honors of those in attendance.
