The 32 Hour Standoff In Itawamba County Is Over

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A 32-hour standoff in Itawamba County is over, two are dead, and the ten-year old hostage is safe.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol SWAT team raided the home on Alice Hall Road Sunday night after 9.

Once inside, the suspect, Nathan Shepherd, was found dead.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation says a weapon was recovered at the scene.

Sheriff Chris Dickinson says the 10-year old child’s father, Paul Blackburn, was the second hostage.

He was killed Saturday inside the home.

The initial call came in Saturday afternoon around 12:30.

That’s when law enforcement responded to the home involving a standoff with an unknown armed suspect holding two hostages.

The Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation were all on scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.
