VIDEO: Utility Companies Prepare For College Move-In Day

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Starkville Utilities is expecting one of their busiest days this week.

With many of the students moving into Starkville for the coming school year, many accounts are being renewed, transferred, or cancelled.

To prepare for this, management is hiring additional part-time staff to handle the work load.

Other measures are being taken to make sure that everything is spaced out so that everyone can get their power turned on.

“It creates a lot of activity for us. The things we’re doing to prepare for that is we’re using technology more and more, encouraging those students to apply for services ahead of time and schedule their
service order for connection dates well in advance,” said Starkville Utilities Customer Service Manager, Stan Acy.

To give you an idea as to how big this day is, 25% of starkville utility’s locations will have new tenants during this move-in season.
