$37.6 million in funding given to Mississippi Head Start programs
MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith announced Wednesday that $37.6 million in funding will be given to Head Start programs in Mississippi.
Included will be $30.3 million in funding for Early Head Start programs in several counties including Lowndes and Noxubee.
“This type of investment in early education can help children be better students. Head Start programs across the state have been instrumental in improving children’s physical, social, and intellectual development,” said Senator Hyde-Smith.
Head Start programs helps low-income families with improving the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of their children, while Early Head Start programs helps with similar needs, except it is for infants and toddlers up to age three.
All 82 counties in Mississippi have Head Start programs.
