48 Hours special on Starkville Labor Day murders pushed back

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The case of the Labor Day murders in Starkville will be featured on the CBS show, 48 Hours.

The program will air one week from Saturday on January 19.

Originally planned for the fall, and then again for this week, changes in the case itself and the breaking national story of Jayme Closs have pushed the air date.

48 Hours is expected to show the years-long investigation by Starkville Police investigators.

Although local people may have considered it a cold case, the deaths of Betty Jones and assault on Kathryn Crigler have always been under investigation by SPD.

And, just this fall, Sgt. Bill Lott arrested Michael Devaughn of Reinzi, using DNA evidence. Devaughn is charged with the capital murder of Betty Jones and the sexual assault of Kathryn Crigler.

The case is expected to go before the grand jury this month.

Again, you can watch 48 Hours, Saturday, January 19th at 8:00 p.m.
