Webster County home lost in late night fire, no injuries

WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- An attempt to stay warm Wednesday night led to the destruction of a Tomnolen home.

At 10:35 p.m. Wednesday the Tomnolen and Eupora fire departments along with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire on Webster Lodi Road.

Deputy Sheriff Dillon Cates told WCBI, the fire started after wet wood was placed on a wood heater. When the wood became dry, the embers flew onto the floor causing the fire.

We’re told the owner was concerned the fire could spread into the woods, but responders were able to contain the flames.

The house, however, was a total loss. Luckily there were no injuries.
