Better Business Bureau warns of scam

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – A telephone scam is making the rounds in Mississippi.

The Better Business Bureau of Mississippi has gotten numerous call from from residents who have been contacted by someone claiming to be an officer with the Social Security Administration wanting to update their information.

Scammers have been asking for people’s social security number, date of birth, and mailing addresses.

They may try to make people believe they could lose benefits or get arrested as well.

The BBB is reminding people to never give out personal information over the phone.
