Crowds gather for annual National Night Out event

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Building partnerships between police and the community. That’s the goal of National Night Out on Crime.

On Tuesday, huge crowds gathered throughout Columbus to take part in the national event.

There was food and fun games and activities for everyone to enjoy.

Police and residents said they enjoy this event because it brings the entire community together and gives everyone a chance to interact with one another.

“I just hope they continue having this night out like this so the people can get to know each other more and more. This is a nice thing to have for all of us to get together and come together and communicate together,” said Columbus resident, Nelson Roland.

Along with food and fellowship, there was also a backpack giveaway for all the kids who came out to join in on this year’s fun.
