Fire engulfs vehicle along Columbus highway

COLUMBUS, Miss (WCBI)- Some scary moments for drivers in Columbus when a car caught fire.

The sudden blaze happened Sunday afternoon across from Auto Zone and Team Care on Highway 45.

In cell phone video sent to us from a viewer, firefighters are seen battling the raging flames that consumed a minivan.

Before first responders arrived, a bystander tried to help put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful stomping out the flames.

There are no reports of any injuries. The owners were able to escape with a few possessions in hand.
