Severe weather threat likely for Wednesday night
SUMMARY: It’s a quiet start to our Wednesday before our active weather pattern picks up again. The first will be late tonight into early Thursday morning. Latest SPC Outlook has us still under a Level 1-2 threat for severe weather. The second round will move in late Friday into early Saturday. We’ll have to watch this one as well for potential strong storms and heavy rain.
WEDNESDAY: A mix of sun and clouds this morning. Most of the day should remain dry with maybe a stray shower or sprinkle, but clouds will increase during the afternoon as highs warm up to the mid 70s. Winds increase from the SE between 10-20 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Heavy rain and strong to severe storms move from west to east across the region. Right now, prime time for us is looking to be 1-5 am. Damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain/flooding are the main concerns, but an isolated tornado or two is also possible. Another 1-3″ of rain is expected. Lows will be around 60.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with lingering showers during the morning as our system pushes off to the east. Partly sunny in the afternoon with a small chance of a shower or storm. Bigger storms may develop JUST to our east Thursday afternoon in central Alabama so we’re going to have to watch it. Breezy westerly winds 10-25 mph with higher gusts possible. Highs in the mid 70s.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy and quiet. Lows in the 50s.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny to partly sunny ahead of our next storm system. Highs in the upper 70s to near 80.
FRIDAY NIGHT – SATURDAY AM: Showers and storms possible. A few could be on the strong side once again. Lows in the upper 50s.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON: A mix of sun & clouds. Cooler with highs in the lower 70s.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear and cooler. Lows in the upper 40s.
SUNDAY: Sunny skies. Highs in the lower 70s.
EARLY NEXT WEEK: Staying mostly sunny & dry Monday into Tuesday. Highs will warm up into the mid to upper 70s.
