Local gym reopening in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – If you’re looking to get in your steps, some gyms in Columbus have opened back up.

At Fitness Factor, owner Beth Jeffers was seen masked up teaching her second class of the day.

Soon after gyms were forced to close, Jeffers said they had the floors professionally cleaned and sanitized.

The equipment was marked off and floors were marked up for classes.

Jeffers said she wanted to make sure members felt safe while they worked out.

That’s why there were signs posted up throughout the gym reminding you of safe practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“A fitness facility is a positive place. People are happy to come back. They seem upbeat, happy, and excited. I think one of the hardest things, especially here, and everywhere is to remind yourself to social distance,” explained Jeffers.

“I’ve been waiting for this day. Beth Jeffers did a great job. Everything’s clean. She has wipes, disinfectant and it was a great workout. I’m just so excited I’ve been waiting for this day,” said gym member Allyson Jones.

Fitness Factor is still offering online gym classes for members that aren’t ready to go back in person.
