ICC Publishes 2012 Report Card

ITAWAMBA, Miss. (Press Release) — Itawamba Community College recently published its 2012 report card, which is made available by the College in compliance with House Bill No. 1071 approved during the 2010 Mississippi Legislative session. The bill created an Education Achievement Council which was established to set educational achievement goals for institutions of higher learning and community and junior colleges in the state and to assist in monitoring progress toward those goals.

The Community College Report Card, designed to reflect the unique mission of community colleges, includes metrics on enrollment; degrees awarded; student success, retention and progress; workforce training; GED and adult basic education services; and success in developmental or remedial coursework.

The results in the 2012 Report Card demonstrate achievement for Itawamba Community College. ICC ranked higher than the state total percentages, based on figures for 2011-12, in student success measures of graduation and retention rates, student progress earning credits, job placement of career and technical graduates and licensure exam pass rates of health science graduates. Workforce Training generated more than 980,000 hours of training, or 17 percent of the state total, for almost 11,000 participants. The report also indicates that strong wage gains were experienced by graduates. Salaries for Associate of Applied Science degree graduates increased approximately $20,000 after program completion and wages for those earning a certificate almost doubled. The ABE/GED program awarded 475 GED certificates and enrolled 1,587 in adult basic services, about 9 and 11 percent respectively of the statewide totals.
