Job Fair in Vernon, Ala

VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – Employment numbers are improving in the Twin States, but there are always people trying to move on, or up. And businesses are always on the lookout for new talent.

Many job hopefuls turned up in Vernon Friday with the goal of meeting employers and starting a new career.

“Well the job fair is an opportunity for folks that are still looking for a job or would like to find something else to do with the rest of their career to come in and find it all in one location can come and meet with about 25 different employers different businesses and see what’s out there.”

“It’s a great opportunity it’s a good networking opportunity for a lot of jobseekers students to come out meet with employers who have job availability within their company.”

But it’s not just the job seekers that event helps. The employers also benefit by meeting the hopefuls.

“You get an opportunity to talk to them look at the resumes and applications and you do it in a relaxed environment where you see the people where they are every day they come in they tell you what I canning can’t do and what they’re looking for it’s always nice to have somebody that comes in and says I would really like to go to work for you.”

High school Seniors also had the chance to talk to employers and get a head start for life after graduation.

“It helped me think of different opportunities like that was different colleges and The police the Bevill and stuff like that I really want to do the two years at Bevill and everything and it’s just set better opportunities about my career.”

Some people attended the fair to see the other opportunities that are out there.

“in a small community events that’s not always there for you sometimes you can relocate it a different job and get better benefits and make it better for your personal life at home and your family.”

Katie West says hosting a job fair unites the community and shows residents that they are their to help.

“It just gets the word out it allows everybody to come together all in one spot it shows them that we are taking interest in our community to show them that there is jobs available out there.”

West says she is excited to see the fair continue to grow and help the people in her community.
