Two Cold Fronts On The Way, But More Summer Heat Until Then

The record heat continues, but likely comes to an end soon with a pair of cold fronts coming into the region.  We’ll still remain above average with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, but cool mornings will trade place with the sticky mornings we’ve got.

TODAY: Look for a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky by the afternoon.  Highs generally range in the mid 90s with the heat index values above 100.  South winds will be between 3-7 mph.

TONIGHT: Under a mostly clear sky, temperatures sink into the upper 60s and low 70s.  Winds remain light out of the south under 5 mph.

TUESDAY – THURSDAY: Dry weather is expected to continue as highs remain in the mid to even upper 90s at times.  Record highs likely are to continue to fall, and Tupelo may break the all time record high for the month of October before all is said and done.  Lows at night fall into the upper 60s and low 70s.

By Thursday Evening into Thursday Night, an isolated shower is possible as a cold front approaches and moves through the area.

FRIDAY: Our first cold front pushes through, dropping temperatures back into more reasonable mid to upper 80s.  While still above normal, dew points will crash as dry air takes hold, meaning we’ll have some cool crisp mornings moving forth.  An isolated shower or two is possible, but we aren’t holding our breath.

THIS WEEKEND – EARLY NEXT WEEK: Thanks to our Friday cold front, we’ll have warm days and cool nights with temperatures during the day in the mid to upper 80s and lows at night in the upper 50s and low 60s.  A second cold front approaches Sunday Night which may help push temperatures down just a bit more and give us better odds for rain into next Monday.  Still, we’ll be above average as far as temperatures are concerned.
