Showers Today; Storms Friday Night Into Saturday.
TODAY: Scattered showers through the day. Temperatures continue their upward trend today as most spots top out in the low to mid 60s. Showers continue overnight, with lows in the upper 50s and a few low 60s.
FRI/SAT: Showers will continue through the day on Friday with high temperatures climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s. There is potential for storms overnight, some of which could be strong to severe. The forecast here is tough and has a lot of moving parts, including whether or not the most unstable air can move in in time for storms, whether or not the upper level lift for storms will be moving out of our area before storms can form, and whether or not storms form along the gulf coast, potentially limiting our severe weather threat. If these ingredients don’t come together, that would mitigate our severe risk a bit, but with this being a rather high uncertainty forecast, it’s best to be prepared for storms Friday night and Saturday morning. Be sure to have a battery powered weather radio ready to go. At this time, our thinking is if storms form, the main threat would be strong straight line winds, with secondary threats being heavy rain, hail around the size of quarters, and an isolated tornado. The main time-frame for storms will be from about 3 am to Noon Saturday. Overnight lows Friday night into the low 60s. After those storms exit our area Saturday, we become partly sunny with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Saturday night lows in the low 50s.
SUNDAY: Still warm with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Partly sunny through the day, but we stay dry. Overnight lows in the low 50s.
MONDAY: Highs in the mid 60s with a few scattered showers possible. Cooler overnight, with lows in the low 40s.
TUE/WED: Cooling off by mid-week next week. High temperatures in the 50s Tuesday and 40s Wednesday, with a low Tuesday night in the 20s and low 30s.
