Drying Out Friday But Rain Returns This Weekend

THURSDAY NIGHT: Areas of rain will continue with the heaviest activity generally along and SE of the Trace. they’ll be focused mainly southeast of the Natchez Trace. Lows will be in the 50s.

FRIDAY: Morning clouds and showers will be possible, especially across our southeastern zones. A clearing trend is expected from NW to SE as the day wears on. Look for highs ranging from the upper 50s in the northwest to the lower 60s in the southeast. Northwesterly winds develop between 5 and 15 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT: A variably cloudy and colder night is on tap. Look for lows in the 30s in most spots.

SATURDAY: The day will start off dry and fair but we do expect clouds to build back in during the afternoon. Showers are going to return as well during the 2nd part of the day and into the evening. Highs should top out in the 50s.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Areas of rain continue across the region. Cloud cover and rain will keep lows in the mid to upper 40s.

SUNDAY: Additional areas of rain and showers should continue under mostly cloudy skies. Highs top out in the 50s once again.

MONDAY: Warmer highs in the 60s and 70s are looking more likely as we get into the warm sector of a developing storm system.  We’re going to be monitoring the potential for more heavy rain and strong storms in the region.  Stay tuned for updates this weekend.

NEW YEAR’S DAY: Rain chances lower as a cooler and much drier air mass moves in from the northwest. Highs in the 50s may be the best we can do.

WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY: Another round of wet weather is possible.  One difference with this feature could be the influence of colder air that may give rise to some wintry precipitation in the region.  It’s still a long way out but it’s work mentioning as an item of interest.
