Strong Storms Possible After 9 p.m. Tonight

Saturday’s Forecast

SATURDAY: Passing showers are possible but most of the day will probably end up being on the dry side. Highs should be in the upper 70s to lower 80s and that may lead to a few more records. Strong southerly winds between 10 and 20 mph develop.

SATURDAY NIGHT: A line of strong to severe storms is expected to cross the area from about 10 or 11 PM (northwest) and 5 or 6 AM (southeast). The primary concern looks to be damaging wind gusts but a spin up tornado or two remains possible. A quick 1” to 2” or more may fall and that may lead to some additional flooding. Even non-severe wind gusts may topple some trees due to the saturated soil we have in parts of the region. Temperatures fall into the upper 50s to around 60 in the wake of the storms.

SUNDAY: Lingering showers are possible. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s.

NEXT WEEK: Reasonably quiet and mild conditions settle in Monday and Tuesday. Another potentially wet and stormy weather maker is possible either Wednesday or Thursday. That could be the next system the produces some severe weather. Stay tuned.
