ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Some Monroe County students are exploring new avenues of the arts.

On Monday night, Aberdeen High School band and art students held “A Night of Cultural Arts” at the Elkin Theatre in downtown Aberdeen.

The jazz band performed music from popular movies like the “Blues Brothers” and “Happy Feet.”

19 art students showed off some of their work to get ready for the annual art show in May.

The concert also featured an a cappella group, which performed music by singers Bruno Mars and Lorde.

Toni Reece and Valerie Brahan are extraordinary teachers who are blessed to be exposed to such talented kids! Job WELL done–Andrew Parker!! and everyone on stage! Something POSITIVE for Aberdeen, and always a joy to watch every year for the past 10 years. It would have a plus to been able to hear some of the music and voices on stage…maybe next time, huh WCBI?
