Ackerman man dies in head-on collision in Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – An Ackerman man was killed in a head-on collision in Starkville.

The accident happened on the Highway 25 bypass about 9:30, Tuesday night.

Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt said Roger Hayes, 81, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

It’s believed the car Hayes was driving did not have its lights on as it traveled the wrong way in the northbound lane.

The driver of the other vehicle is in a Tupelo hospital. The passenger in that same vehicle reported non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
