Alabama announces $7 million to go to improvements for road and bridges

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WCBI) – Alabama is pumping $7 million into road and bridge improvements.

Governor Kay Ivey announced Thursday that Millport will receive $250,000 of that grant.

The town will chip in more than $84,000 to help resurface portions of nine streets.

The nine streets set to be resurfaced are:

  • Waldrop Street
  • Sall Street
  • Old Kennedy Road
  • Monroe Street
  • Welch Street
  • Walker Street
  • Mary Street
  • McAdams Street
  • Dowdle Street

Ivey said the Annual Grant Program was created under the Rebuild Alabama Act.

That legislation requires the State Department of Transportation to set aside $10 million of gas tax revenue for local road and bridge projects.

The remaining $3 million will be awarded later this year.
