Alabama Trooper Injured In Hamilton Crash, One Driver At Tupelo Hospital

HAMILTON, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say an Alabama state trooper was one of three people injured in a crash near Hamilton in northwest Alabama.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Johnathan Appling said in an emailed statement Thursday that a trooper was conducting a stop on Interstate 22 when a truck veered from the road and hit both the trooper’s vehicle, and the vehicle the trooper had stopped.

Appling says the trooper was airlifted to UAB Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle the trooper had stopped also suffered serious injuries and was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Appling says the driver of the truck that veered from the road was also injured, and is hospitalized at the North Mississippi Medical Center’s Hamilton campus.

The crash is under investigation.
