Alabama unemployment numbers fall as jobs open up

ALABAMA (WCBI) – Alabama’s unemployment numbers continue to fall.

May’s rate is 3.4 percent.

That is a decline from April’s 3.6 percent.

You can see May 2020’s unemployment rate was double this year’s figure.

Right now, just over 75,000 Alabamians are without a job.

The leisure and hospitality sector of the economy saw the most new jobs with over 5,000.

Workers in the state are averaging about 67 dollars more in their paycheck compared to last year.

Lamar County’s unemployment rate is 2.4 percent.

It is 3.4 percent in Pickens County.
