Alcorn Seeks Grant to Collect Hazardous Waste

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) — Officials in Alcorn County are gearing up for a collection of household hazardous waste which may take place in April or May.

A local newspaper reports that the county Board of Supervisors will apply for grant funding from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to support the collection.

The $25,000 grant would require a 25 percent local match, met by the value of volunteer labor and other in-kind support.

If it is scheduled, the collection would take place at the Alcorn County Transfer Station on South Harper Road. The last such collection took place in October 2012.
