American Legion honored at area banquet

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A crowd gathered for the annual Columbus Lowndes Ducks Unlimited Banquet at American Legion Post 69, but there was more than supper on the menu.

Ducks Unlimited has a long partnership with the American Legion and Thursday night, they honored the post with an American flag plaque.

They also want it to serve as a reminder for the sacrifice made by our service men and women.

“It’s the most humbling thing in the world. Very, very humbling. It gives you that why, of why you’re here and what you’re doing. It just reflects hard work,” said American Legion Post 69 Commander, Calvin Boswell.

“This will be something they can put on their wall and have for years to come and show everybody that the veterans are special people. A lot of them have died as we see, they died for us and our country. It’s just a great time to give back to them,” said Ducks Unlimited Area Chairman, Tony Hannah.

The oldest and youngest veterans were honored with flags.
