Amory Hosts Back To School Bash!

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – Only one week separates local kids from the start of another school year.

Saturday, it was all about ending the summer with a bang.

Cheers filled the streets of downtown Amory.

” We just hope we’re boosting the moral of our community, getting everyone ready and excited for a great school year,” said Junior Auxiliary member Alyssa Benedict.

A number of games and activities were on hand at Frisco Park for the family fun back to school bash.

Free school supplies were also given out to kids.

Kids at the back to school bash say they enjoyed having one last big day before school starts.

” On a scale of 1 to 10, probably about 100,” said Hannah Hoang and Abby Pearson

A community-wide parade was also held in downtown.

Benedict says the first-year event has been a success.

” We are just ecstatic at all the people in the community that have come together to make today great for all the kids in Monroe County,” said Benedict.

And this group of girls say they are already looking forward to the next bash.

” I would like to do it every year, I think it was fun because it was the first time. I just hope they do it again next year,” added Pearson and Hoang.
