AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – The mayor of Amory plans to address the petitions circulating for a vote on alcohol sales within the city.

Amory Mayor Brad Blalock says he will make a statement at the city board meeting Tuesday evening.

An organization called Citizens for the Economic Development of Amory is seeking signatures for a referendum so voters can decide whether or not to legalize alcohol sales in Amory.

20 percent of Amory’s registered voter’s signatures are needed for a special election on the issue.

The regular-called city board meeting is at city hall at 6:00 p.m.
