Amory Police Chief Assaulted During Traffic Stop

AMORY (WCBI) – Amory Police Chief Ronnie Bowen is expected to be okay after being assaulted earlier today.

The long time Chief was making a routine traffic stop when the driver jumped out of his car and attacked Bowen.  The struggle ended up with Bowen and the suspect on the ground before the man took off running.  He was captured a short time later.  Chief Bowen was taken to Gilmore Memorial Hospital and is expected to be okay.  The name of the suspect and charges against him will be released Tuesday.
