Amphitheater And Personnel Matter Top The Agenda During Columbus City Council Meeting

COLUMBUS. Miss. (WCBI)- Columbus city leaders take another step towards completing the Terry Brown Amphitheater.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, the board voted to ask the legislature for $1.5 million dollars to help finish the project.

Also, during executive session, city leaders confirmed a personnel move ordered by Police Chief Fred Shelton.

Police Officer Rhonda Sanders was spotted leaving the council’s chambers right before that decision was made.

Now you may remember, it was just over a month ago when CPD said Sanders voluntarily stepped down from her role as community relations officer after being transferred to another shift.

Shortly afterwards, Sanders filed a formal grievance against the department.

Sanders and her attorney both declined to comment on the matter.
