Armstrong Middle School NOT On Lockdown

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Armstrong Middle School in Starkville is not, nor has not, been on lockdown today, February 15.

A social media post from an adult has created a “frenzy of misinformation that is fueling untruths,” according the the Starkville Oktibbeha School District.

School is in session under normal operating procedures. And school administrators tell WCBI News that all students and staff are safe and secure.

School Superintendent Dr. Eddie Peasant says, “As powerful as social media can be as a communication tool, we just saw this morning how a post that isn’t true can create an unnecessary disruption for students, teachers and families. We are constantly vigilant in monitoring student safety. When misinformation is shared, it desensitizes awareness of real issues.”

School administrators are encouraging anyone who has a concern about a safety issue contact a school official or school security.

AMS and the Starkville Oktibbeha School District are working with the Starkville Police Department to investigate.
