SARDIS, Miss. (AP) – The Panola County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two men in the fatal shooting of a Sardis convenience store owner during a robbery.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/QrcEBx) 19-year-old Marcus Ledrey Thomas and 18-year-old Derrick Dewayne Walton, both of Sardis, were charged Wednesday with capital murder in the shooting death of Tareq Saleem Abuathiah.

Authorities said Abuathia was shot and pronounced dead at the scene Monday night.

Sheriff Dennis Darby said Thomas and Walton remain in the county jail.

It was unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
