Arrests made for bringing drugs into Lee County jail

TUPELO (WCBI) – Three people have now been charged for smuggling or possessing drugs inside a correctional facility.  Sheriff Jim Johnson says 22 year old Emily Yingling is the one who hid drugs inside clothes being dropped off for inmates.

 

38 year old Randell Button and 27 yeaer old James Eaton are inmates at the jail . Johnson says the pair are also facing charges for having drugs in the jail.

Wednesday Johnson announced he was stopping the practice of letting family members or friends bring clothes to prisoners.  The sheriff says his staff found drugs hidden in the clothing including one case where someone had sewn meth into the elastic cuff of a pair of socks.
