Autistic Columbus Man Still Missing

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A 25 year old autistic Columbus resident is still missing tonight.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has issued a Silver Alert for 25-year-old Christopher Jamal Reed of Columbus.

Christopher “Chris” Reed was last seen by family members Monday morning, January 22, inside his home on 19th Street South.

He was last seen wearing black sweat pants and a light gray pullover with old navy written on it with white tennis shoes.

He is a 5′ 9″ black male and weighs 120 pounds.

Family members say he does not drive and doesn’t wonder from the house and knows not to talk or ride with strangers.

“After I got off work at about 4:30 and I came and I always say Chris, I’m home and then I looked through the house and he wasn’t there,” says Christopher’s Aunt, Brenda Jones.

“I want them to know we’re looking for Chris and we want him to come home safely,” says cousin Mrkiter Jones.

Loved ones say Chris is very shy.

Investigator Andy Hood says the last sighting report of Reed was at the north end of town and the 18th Avenue area.

If anyone has any information on Christopher Reed’s whereabouts or believes they’ve seen him, call 911, or the Columbus Police Department to give a description of him and the location.

Local residents are organizing a search party tonight at the Riverwalk at 6:30.

They’ll have a check in and out table at the upper parking lot.

They advise people to bring flashlights and dress warm.
