Bentley Sets Date for Special Session on Lottery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WCBI) — Alabama lawmakers will meet in a special session next month about getting a state lottery.

Governor Robert Bentley has set the date for August 15.

If the legislature OKs the lottery, voters will then decide whether to approve a constitutional amendment to allow one.

Bentley believes proceeds will help solve the state’s Medicaid funding crisis – aiding children, the elderly, mentally ill, and law enforcement.
