Big Creek Community Parade

CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Big Creek community throws a parade and the grand marshal is an 8 year old cancer survivor.

Saturday, in Downtown Calhoun City, the community came together to celebrate what they’re calling a miracle. In January 2017, Kaetlin Stone was diagnosed with stage 4 RMS.

It’s a form of cancer that attacks the entire body. Ten months ago, doctors at Saint Jude Hospital sent the family home.

Doctors told Kaetlin’s parents, Cecil and Jessica, that there was nothing more they could do and gave the 8-year-old a week and a half to 6 weeks to live.

That was 10-months ago. Today, Kaetlin is in full remission. Her parents believe prayer is the only cure for cancer.

“When we moved out here to Big Creek this community surrounded us with love and surrounded our daughter with prayer prayers that have been working,” said Stone.

Tomorrow is Kaetlin’s birthday, she turns 9.
