Blustery and Cold Today; Nicer Saturday.

TODAY: The upper level system exits to our east today. Lingering showers in the morning, then dry and cloudy by the afternoon. Very breezy today, with winds out of the northwest at 10-20 mph gusting around 30 mph. High temperatures in the low to mid 40s, with wind chills in the 30s all day. Clearing out overnight with winds dying down some. Lows in the upper 20s and low 30s, below freezing area-wide.

SATURDAY: A day between weather makers. Mostly sunny and warmer, with highs in the mid 50s. Light winds out of the southwest. Clouds build in overnight, with lows in the low 40s.

SUNDAY/XMAS EVE: Scattered showers return to the forecast on Sunday as a trough passes across the area, with highs in the upper 50s. Drying off overnight, with lows in the 30s Sunday night. It looks like we will stay dry Christmas eve despite a weak shortwave pushing through the area, although that will keep some clouds around. Highs in the mid 50s, with overnight lows in the upper 30s.

CHRISTMAS DAY/ WEDNESDAY: An isolated shower will be possible Christmas day and Wednesday, but the pattern remains relatively quiet until the end of the work week. Highs in the 60s, with lows in the mid 40s Christmas night and low 50s Wednesday night.

THURSDAY: A cold front pushes through the area Thursday triggering numerous thunderstorms. At this point, it’s too early to nail down any severe threat, but this does not look like a classic winter setup for our area. Regardless, we will keep a close eye on this setup over the next few days. Highs in the mid 60s.
