Update: Body Recovered from Buttahatchee River in Lamar County, Alabama

LAMAR COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI) – A car careens off of a bridge in West Alabama killing the driver.
Seventy-one year old “Banks Laraine Underwood” was killed when her 2000 Chevy truck jumped the bridge and landed in the Buttahatchee River near Sulligent.
The Sulligent Police Department received a call about 8:30 Monday morning that a vehicle went off the bridge on Highway 17 in Lamar County.
A section of Highway 17 was closed for hours while divers searched for Underwood underwater.
About 2:30 yesterday, divers recovered her body and her truck from the river.
The accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
