Book Sale Proceeds Benefit Local Library

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s heaven on earth for bookworms.

The group Friends of the Library is holding its July book sale this week to raise money for the Columbus-Lowndes County Library.

The fundraiser is held once a month.

Book sales help fund the kids’ summer reading program, and buy books for the facility.

“Every cent that we make at this goes back into the library, so they can purchase new books, they can do programs,” said Jo Shumake, Friends of the Library. “A lot of things, things they would not be able to do unless we were helping by providing money, and when I say we, I don’t just mean Friends of the Library, I mean everyone who buys a book.”

This month’s book sale will continue Saturday.

It runs from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
