LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-  One person is dead after a two car accident on Highway 82 in Lowndes County.

It was just after 6:30 on Saturday night when a call came in notifying law enforcement of the accident near the Golden Triangle Airport exit.

Lowndes County corner Greg Merchant said Antaves Rotalren Petty, 16, died as a result of the crash.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a Jeep rear-ended a Dodge Charger.

The lone driver of the Jeep and four people inside the Charger were all taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle.

The west bound lanes were closed while troopers investigated the accident.

All of the injured in the crash have been treated and released from the hospital.

Petty was a student at New Hope High School.

That investigation continues.
