BREAKING- Officer Involved Shooting In Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCBI)- At least one person has been struck following an officer involved shooting in Columbus early Saturday morning.

A city spokesman confirms the incident took place just after 1:00 AM near the Premier Lounge at College and 22nd    CPD was called to the area to check on a disturbance as the lounge was closing for the night.  Details on what led to the shooting have not been released at this time .  Department policy requires The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and other outside agencies to now assume control of the investigation.

A MBI team is already in Columbus interviewing witnesses to the shooting .  WCBI can confirm a weapon has been recovered at the scene .    The victim in the shooting was transported to the hospital but the name and condition is not being released at this time.  WCBI will continue to update this story throughout the day .
