Burned Vehicle And Human Remains Found In Lee County

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – DNA tests are being conducted human remains found inside a burnt car last week in rural Lee County.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said the remains were found inside of a burned out car late last week by a farmer near the Lee, Pontotoc County line.

The sheriff says the car’s vehicle identification number matches a missing person from DeSoto County.

The identity of the missing person hasn’t been released.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green says she is waiting on DNA tests to get a positive identity on the suspect.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is examining the car for evidence.
