TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Representatives from businesses such as manufacturing, healthcare and education are learning how to do things more efficiently.
The Applied Lean Leadership Conference is taking place at the Bancorpsouth Conference Center in Tupelo.
Participants are hearing from experts in the “lean” manufacturing field. Lean is a method to eliminate waste and improve quality and efficiency in any business or industry.
“It saves money, increases production, but it really begins with quality, you know, saving money is kind of an efficiency thing and what we all know is before you try to be efficient, you better be effective, you better be able to make good cars before you try to make them at a lower cost,” said John Shook, of the LEAN Enterprise Institute, who was a keynote speaker.
Participants are touring area industries and the North Mississippi Medical Center. The LEAN conference wraps up Thursday.
