Video: Calhoun City Honors And Remembers Military

MEMORIAL DAY

CALHOUN CITY, Miss, (WCBI) — Memorial Day is a time of remember the ultimate sacrifice service members gave to keep our country safe.  Calhoun City joined scores of North Mississippi and West Alabama towns remembering those who gave their lives for the country.

Veteran Butch Harris says it’s a Southern tradition to respect the members of the military but says it’s the elected leaders in Washington who seem to have forgotten those sacrifices.   “I joined the Corps when I was 17 because I felt it was the right thing to do, as all of us Southern children were raised down here. The way things are going today, this government cares nothing about it veterans. It doesn’t care about the people they have in harm’s way, I mean it’s pitiful.”

Calhoun City hosts its Memorial Day program each year.
