Calhoun County School Lockdown

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Calhoun County school briefly goes on lockdown after an incident with a teacher and her husband this morning, December 11.

William Hubbard Jr. is charged with domestic violence.

Sheriff Greg Pollan says law enforcement received information that Hubbard might be on his way to Vardaman Elementary School and possibly armed.

As a precaution, the school was locked down.

Law enforcement found Hubbard about five miles away, pulling up at his house.

Educators say the safety measure was the right choice.

“We wanted to make sure we protected all of our children so we had one of our directors over there this morning. I was over there. Our principal is out sick now, and so we had the campus covered. Teachers did outstanding on lockdown and we had everything in covered. At no time were the students in danger,” says Superintendent Mike Moore.

Hubbard’s bond has not been set and he remains in jail.
