Car Chase Leads To Arrest Of Wanted Felon

TISHOMINGO CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – On May 2, the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a vehicle that the deputy was behind, after the Suspect of the vehicle took off, passing several other vehicles endangering their lives due to the carelessness of the Suspect on the Highway 30 area in the Tishomingo community.

The deputy watching the danger that the vehicle is putting other drivers through, began initiating his blue lights and sirens, to which the Suspect began to flee the area.

The deputy gave chase attempting to stop the Suspect but the Suspect refused to cooperate.

Both the deputy and the Suspect then drove onto the Natchez Trace Parkway heading Northeast to the Alabama State Line.

The Alabama authorities were in route to assist the Tishomingo Deputy, and had placed “spike strips” on the roadway, attempting to bring the chase to an end.

The Suspect(s) vehicle hit the “spike strips” causing two flat tires, but the Suspect continued driving where it finally came to a stop in the area of Cherokee, Alabama.

The Suspect was immediately detained and was later determined that the Suspect had two active felony warrants out of Lauderdale County, Alabama.

A search of the Suspects’ vehicle turned up some alleged Marijuana and Methamphetamine.

The Suspect was then transported to the Lauderdale County Alabama Jail, where a hold for Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department was placed on the Suspect.

Arrested was Jyrome Thigpen, white male, 34 years-old, 15190 CR 33 Killen, Alabama.

Thigpen will be presented to the next Grand Jury for Felony Fleeing and Possession of Controlled Substance.
