Carjacking case cracked in minutes

LOWNDES COUNTY (WCBI) – A quick capture of a man who carjacked a Coumbus woman Friday morning.  The 64 year old victim was putting air in her tires at a Highway 45 North store when a man asked for  a ride.

The victim declined and that’s when police say Michael Cox jumped in the car and started driving away.  The woman attempted to pull Cox out of her car but he ran over her and drove off.  A Columbus patrolman spotted the stolen car about 5 minutes later and  officers surrounded Cox and arrested him.  Lowndes County detectives have charged him with carjacking.  The victim suffered an elbow and knee injury but is expected to recover.
